Who we are
LongFlame is a studio based in China. We tell the stories of Chinese crafts: where they come from, what the records say, what is only legend, and the people who still practise them.
How we work
- We choose the makers ourselves.
- We tell their stories, and we say where our facts come from. When something is a legend, we say so.
- We sell makers’ work on their behalf. We don’t buy up stock; it remains the maker’s.
- Every maker we introduce will be a real person, filmed and photographed for real.
- Our illustrations are AI-assisted, and we label them. We will never present one as a real piece.
Where we are now
No makers are featured on LongFlame yet, and nothing is for sale. Our first story is about Ru ware. More will follow.
There is a great deal to tell. China’s National List of Representative Items of Intangible Cultural Heritage has 1,557 items. (Source: China Intangible Cultural Heritage Network, in Chinese.)
